It may not yet be the Fourth of July, but you can find fashion inspiration in the upcoming holiday. The stars and stripes of the American flag just look right together - and you can translate them into a playfully patriotic look. Mix star and stripe patterns with bold colors. Just don’t do red, white, and blue - that’s a little too literal. The resulting look? So fabulous that it’ll bring on the fireworks.
1. Start with a mix of solids and stripes: a bright green tie-neck blouse paired with a skinny striped pencil skirt.
2. Add your stars - in the form of a fitted denim jacket adorned with an allover star print.
3. If you dare to add more pattern, try a tote in a bold reverse polka dot print.
4. Finish off the look with gold ballet flats and brightly colored sunglasses. Psst - the purple in the sunglasses plays off the green beautifully.

The London Olympics may not start for another month, but it’s not too early to dress like you’re going for the gold. Metallic accents are a chic way to dress up basic silhouettes - here’s how to get the look:
1. Start with a basic foundation - a black sweater over a pair of skinny pants. What makes this base special is the gold sequinned collar on the sweater.
2. Add more gold to echo the sequinned collar. A gold skull bracelet and spike stud cuff adds extra texture to the look.
3. Finish off the look wiht a pair of strappy heels, a structured tote. Geek chic glasses optional.

The pant of the moment has evolved from the colored pant to the patterned pant. Sure, the patterned pant is more intimidating - but done right, it’s a strikingly stylish look.
What’s the key to getting the look of patterned pants right? The answer is twofold:
Size of Print: Choose the right print - including the right size of the print - for your personal architecture. Smaller size patterns work well on more petite women, while taller women can pull off a pattern with a larger repeat.
Fit: Patterned pants look best with a snug fit; loose fit pants can feel a little too "pajama party" for streetwear.
Here’s how to get the look of patterned pants:
1. Start with your pair of patterned pants. Here, we’ve chosen a black and white geometric print. Smaller scale prints like this are easier to wear than larger patterns, which tend to work only on taller women.
2. Try solid colors to pair with the patterned pants. We paired a spring green tie-neck blouse with the black and white pants, and then topped it off with a sequin encrusted bolero jacket in cream. The red detailing on the cream bolero provides a nice counterpoint to the green in the blouse.
3. Finish off the look with accessories that add color and texture - a pair of laser cut slip-ons, chevron striped clutch handbag in yellow, and pair of circular sunglasses that play off of the clutch.

Blue is figuratively and literally a primary color. It sits front and center in our closets, asking to be worn. Sometimes we like to pair blue with green, with yellow, with reds for a bit of pop. But blue can hold it’s own too - we created a look that’s blue from head to toe. Here’s how to get the look:
1. Start with a cream colored embellished blouse paired with a city short in light blue.
2. Add a horizontal striped sweater in neon blue and black - a nice accompaniment to the pattern on the shirt.
3. Accessorize with more blue - a pair of blue lace embellished flats, a pair of teal sunglasses, and a bright blue handbag with silver hardware.

Sun and surf - we love a day at the beach. And when we make our way over to the sea, we’re all about wearing something equivalently breezily stylish. We built a look around the colors of the beach, accented with chic stripes. Here’s how to get the look:
1. Start with a sand colored striped tank paired with an aqua skirt.
2. Add more stripes via a skinny cardigan sweater. Note how the blue in the striped sweater echoes the aqua skirt.
3. Three’s a charm - so add more stripes with a leather handle tote.
4. Grab your sunglasses and slip on a pair of seafoam sandals - and head to the beach.

June 2012 Lookbook: How to Wear Sequins to Work
This look is part of Omiru’s June 2012 Lookbook series, which builds upon our 16-Piece June 2012 Capsule Wardrobe. See more information about this look.
Once the preserve of fancy eveningwear, sequins now feel right for day and night. So - why not add a dose of glamour to your officewear? The trick to getting the look right is to pair your sequins with more casual fabrics and textures. The resulting look is playfully elegant - just like you.
1. Start by mixing two patterns in the same color family - a sleeveless embellished shell with a pencil skirt featuring horizontal stripes. Note how these two patterns work together because of the congruence between colors and pattern repeat size.
2. Add more visual texture with a sequinned collarless jacket. The cream color pairs nicely with the whites of the blouse and the skirt.
3. Accessorize with pops of color - yellow on the clutch and heels, and a beautiful lilac on the retro sunglasses.
